Amex updates its Gold collection – 2024
Amex Gold Collection is sought after redemption option for American express card holders. Reason is that once you are able to accumulate 18000 or 24000 MR points, you can redeem those points for vouchers at a significantly higher value compared to normal Rs 0.25 value.
The Gold Collection redemption option to redeem is given under 2 variants of American Express cards in India – Amex Membership Rewards Credit Card and Amex Gold Charge Card.
Changes in the Gold Collection
The value of the vouchers has been decreased by 1K each for existing partners (besides Taj) and there are 2 additions – Tata Cliq and Reliance Digital
The new 18K collection looks like the below
- Taj – Rs 9000 (Rs 0.5/ MR point)
- Shoppers Stop Rs 7000 (Rs 0.39/MR point)
- Myntra – Rs 7000 (Rs 0.39/MR point)
- Tata Cliq – Rs 7000 (Rs 0.39/MR point)
- Amazon – Rs 6000 (Rs 0.33/MR point)
- Flipkart – Rs 6000 (Rs 0.39/MR point)
- Reliance Digital – Rs 6000 (Rs 0.33/MR point)
The new 24K collection looks like the below
- Taj – Rs 14000 (Rs 0.58/ MR point)
- Shoppers Stop – Rs 10000 (Rs 0.42/MR point)
- Tanishq – Rs 9000 (Rs 0.38/MR point)
- Tata Cliq – Rs 9000 (Rs 0.38/MR point)
- Amazon – Rs 8000 (Rs 0.33/MR point)
- Flipkart – Rs 8000 (Rs 0.33/MR point)
- Reliance Digital – Rs 8000 (Rs 0.33/MR point)
My take on this
Although the value of some of the vouchers has reduced by Rs 1000, even then the value of points after redeeming through Gold Collection remains higher than Rs 0.25. Redeeming for Taj gives he highest value and is unchanged. Considering Taj hotels do not have many transfer partners, using Amex points for taj Gift vouchers could be a good choice.
How I intend to use my points
Regarding the usage of Amex points, I prefer to transfer Amex points to Marriott Bonvoy and other airmile partners for my travel plans. I already have a lot of Amazon balance and make prefer buying gift vouchers to gain multiplier points which helps gain more points for my travels. So, it doesnot impact me at a personal level.
