Axis Bank Select Credit Card Review

Axis Bank has come up with lot of premium offerings which are best in the credit card industry currently. But not all would be eligible and not all would want to spend on the high annual fee and some may also not have the high spends to justify the fee.
In this case, the mid segment cards of Axis come into picture.
There are 2 which I would recommend – One is Axis Bank Privilege Credit Card which I have been carrying since last 4 years and then there is Axis Bank Select Credit Card.

Axis Bank Select Credit Card

Overview of the card

Axis Bank Select credit card is a mid-range credit card with the below charges:

  • Joining Fee – Rs 3000* + GST
  • Renewal Fee – Rs 3000*+GST (Renewal fee reversed if annual spends are greater than Rs 6 Lacs in previous anniversary year)
    • The card is free for the Burgundy customers of Axis Bank

Benefits on Axis Select Credit Card

Reward Points

  • Normal reward rate – 10 Edge reward points on Rs 200 spend (1% reward rate* since 1 Edge reward point is Rs 0.20)
  • Reward Points on retail shopping – 2X on Rs 200 spent (2% reward rate)

This can be increased 10X by using the Grab deals or buying gift cards from Axis gift edge portal.

Other Features of the Axis Select Card

  • Welcome benefit
    • Rs 2000 Amazon Pay voucher
  • Monthly Rewards

    • Swiggy – 40% off (upto Rs 200) on min Rs 400 transaction (Code – AXIS200) [Valid twice per month]
    • Bookmyshow – BOGO offer – Buy one and get upto Rs 300 off on second ticket
  • Airport Lounge Feature

  • Milestone Benefits – 5000 Edge reward points on reaching Rs 3Lac spends
    • Renewal of all monthly and priority pass features on reaching Rs 3 Lac spends
  • Golf Benefits
    • 6 Complimentary rounds/year
    • 3 more on reaching Rs 3 Lac spends
  • Fuel Benefit – 1% surcharge waiver but no reward points (Nothing special as others cards also provide same, so I recommend Co-Branded cards for fuel)
  • Income Eligibility – Rs 9 Lac annual Income

My take on this

The reward rate of 1% on normal spends is not great for a mid level card, however the monthly offers on the three regular brands – bookmyshow, swiggy and Bigbasket add an additional dimension to this card.
Also, someone looking for complimentary priority pass can look for this card as well, specifically if you are an Axis Bank Burgundy customer.
Also, if you are heavy retail shopper and with above benefits, this card could definitely work for you coupled with the reward multiplier programs.
